Allen & Overy Strengthens U.S. Leveraged Finance Practice With Another Hire

Allen & Overy has made its latest U.S. hire, with the addition of counsel Ilona Potiha from Davis Polk & Wardwell to the New York base.

Potiha joins the firm’s U.S. leveraged finance practice after five years at Davis Polk, according to her LinkedIn profile.

She began her career advising on leveraged finance and private equity transactions at Ropes & Gray for four years, a statement by A&O said on Monday. She representins lenders, financial institutions, and borrowers on a wide range of financing transactions, the statement added.

Potiha is one of several additions that A&O has made this year as it continues to expand its U.S. offering.

Hires have included Jake Mincemoyer, head of A&O’s U.S. leveraged finance practice, who joined the firm from White & Case along with two other lawyers earlier this year.

Mincemoyer said in a statement regarding Potiha’s hire: “Ilona’s appointment comes at a unique time in the private debt markets, where deal volume and size continue to grow significantly year over year.”

Other major additions A&O has made so far this year to its New York base include M&A partner Dario de Martino from Morrison & Foerster just two weeks ago.

Prior to that, the firm had opted for major West Coast growth in the past 18 months.

It has announced office openings in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Silicon Valley with major team hires from rival U.S. firms.
