Freshfields names former RBS, BofA MD Livingston global chief financial officer

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has appointed London-based Neal Livingston as as the firm’s global chief financial officer.

Livingstone, who joins from Dentons where he was most recently chief financial officer and on the global management committee and board, will head Freshfields’ finance unit globally, and will bring particular expertise in managing teams across multiple markets and jurisdictions, due to his experience of senior finance roles over 25 years.

Prior to the legal sector, he had a long spell in banking, with roles at Bank of America, Royal Bank of Scotland, Standard Chartered and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. He was also a partner at Andersen Worldwide.

Freshfields managing partner Rick van Aerssen said: “Neal brings the perfect blend of financial and global experience to the firm as we look to balance the ongoing performance and strength of our core markets, with carefully managed expansion in our growth markets. As global CFO he will play a vital role in helping to drive and support the firm’s ambitious growth plans.”
