MARGAO: With no updates from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), several investors of Kamakshi Forex on Wednesday held a protest in Margao seeking government intervention into the matter.

They threatened to hold a protest in front of the Assembly in the coming days.

Nearly hundred investors gathered at the old office of Kamakshi Forex.

It is pertinent to note that the multi-crore scam was exposed in 2016. However, the investors are still waiting to receive their hard-earned money from Kamakshi Forex director Nilesh Raikar.

The EOC, besides the CBI had registered an offence under criminal breach of trust, criminal conspiracy and cheating against Nilesh Raikar and other directors of the Kamakshi Forex for duping several depositors to the tune of crores of rupees. Over 500 investors had filed cases in this regard.

Speaking to media persons, Jezuito Cardozo, one of the investors said they have been kept in the dark by the CBI with regard to the case hearings.

“We want to know who our advocate is and the updates of the case registered with the CBI”, he demanded.

He said, “The government should intervene in the matter and ensure that our hard-earned money is paid to us.”

Cardozo said they had submitted the original cheques to the CBI issued by Kamakshi Forex.

Francisco Antao, another investor, expressed anger over the matter which has been pending before the investigating agency for five years.

“We are not even aware about the actual status of the case and investigation done by the CBI and EOC.
